Update

Well things aren’t exactly dire, but my credit card balances aren’t improving either. So I’ve decided to take some action.

There are two ways to have more money, spend less and increase your income.

Spending Less
I’m pretty comfortable with my lifestyle at the moment so I don’t want to be cutting into that too much, however there are some changes I can make that just take a little stuffing around that I’ve been far too lazy for up until now.

  • I’m going to find a new host for this site, I’m paying $15 a month for it and I don’t have to be because I have another hosting package for my other sites where I could host it for free. It’s not a lot of money a
  • I must start taking my lunch to work, I spend about $15-20 a day on food which is just rediculous. I just need to get more organised and I will be able to save myself about $50 a week as a minimum
  • I’ve decided to sell some of my shares, They have gone backwards for a while now, and although they have been relatively steady for the last couple of months I can’t justify the extra interest I’m paying for them on my credit cards. I’m probably going to wear a $600 loss but I can take some consolation that it’s tax deductible
  • Income

  • I’ve got a fairly stable income from a day job, unfortunately there is no opportunity for overtime so I’m stuck with my regular pay packet from it. However I have a small payrise due at the start of next month, and there are also tax cuts due, so my pay packet will be going up about $100 a month.
  • I need to get serious about making some money online, I used to do it full time four or five years back and I’m confident I know enough to do it again, Just need to pull my finger out a little.
  • So what’s my motivation for actually applying myself this time. I’ve decided I want to own a home. I’m sick of moving around at the whim of landlords and what a home base somewhere that isn’t up for renewal every 6 months.

I haven’t had a proper holiday in over 4 years and that’s something that’s on the to do list as well.
