Credit Cards Aren’t That Important.

Over the last week or so I’ve spent a lot of time visiting my Dad in the hospital (hence the lack of posts), He’s had major surgery and it’s been a tough time on many levels. He’s on the mend but sitting in waiting rooms and the ICU ward my credit card debts were the furthest thing from my mind.

I had written a whole rant on the meaning of life, debt, money, wealth, marketing and the consumer society in which we live. I read it back and it was really disjointed so I’m going to save it for another time. No I’m not going to grow my hair long and move into a commune, but I’ve realised my place in the big wheel of the global economy and I’m going to put a lot of thought into using it to my advantage. You’re either a driver or a passenger and at the moment I’m a passenger and I don’t like it. No firm ideas at this stage but watch this space.

Other news over the last week has been that I was offered a temporary promotion at work, but my current department won’t release me. It’s not over yet, but I’m not liking my chances. I’ll let the “managers” fight it out.

The possible domain name sale I posted about here has fallen through as expected. That’s okay, I make enough off the click thru’s on the site to more than cover the cost of renewing the domain. I’ll hold it for a while longer.

I’ve started my credit card status report for August, I’m not expecting much of a change over the previous month, but right now I don’t care. I might get to it on the weekend, but I need some to catch up with friends that I’ve been ignoring.

I’ve been invited to participate in the Carnival of Debt Reduction. I’m not really sure what a blog carnival involves, but I’ll try and have something to post if I’ve got the time. It’s sure to be mildly controversial in the personal finance blogging world.

Well that’s brought just about everything mildly credit card related up to date. Once Dad get’s out of hospital I’ll be taking some time off to share the caring load for his first few weeks at home. So my posting might be sporadic for the next month or two, but what I’ve realised over the last couple of weeks is that in the big scheme of things my credit card debt aint that important at all.
