Here’s a list of things that I’ve impulsively used my credit cards for. I’ve been on the credit card merry go round for over 10 years now, so I’ll add to them as I remember it.
- Mum’s Fiftieth Birthday Dinner Mum had invited 30 or so of her closest friends out to dinner to celebrate her birthday. The normal thing at the end of the night is everyone pays for their own meal, which involves much petty bickering about who ate the extra garlic bread and who ordered the extra salad. I hate it, I think it ruins a good night. I went to collect the bill and realised how rediculously low it was (it worked out to a little over $10 a head) I knew it was wrong, but I thought hey it’s the bill they presented to us. I knew if the usual bill disection occurred the mistake would be realised so I got out my shiny new gold visa card with a recently boosted spending limit and payed for everyones meal.
- Last Minute Cross Country Flight To cut a long story short I decided to go and visit a friend who was probably as far away as she could possibly be from where I lived without needing a passport. She’d just taken holidays and it made sense to visit while she wasn’t at work. I bought the ticket three days in advance and it cost me around $1300. At the time for the same money I could have got a 7 night holiday package in Indonesia, or an around the world ticket (cattle class).
- Brand New Motorbike This actually didn’t go on the credit cards but the $200 a month loan payments sure did take a chunk out of my ability to reduce my credit card debts. I was bored with life, wanted a new toy, so I said what the hell.
These are just a few of the things that have created my credit card debt, I’m sure there are more.

It seems the backward financial slide has begun.

It’s not true henry:)
These are purchases I’ve made in the past, I’m not ruling out that I may use my credit cards in a self indulgent manner in the future, but I certainly have done nothing that matched those extravagances in the last couple of years.
