I’ve just booked the flights for a weekend away in December.
By booking this far in advance I’ve saved over $600 so I don’t mind using my credit card for this kind of purchase. It’s the everyday living expenses that I want to avoid putting on my credit card.
I haven’t thought about accomodation yet, I might stay with friends but I don’t want to impose on them in the middle of their wedding preparations. (hence the reason for my trip)
It’s these sort of occasions that I never hesitate to use the credit card for. Friends are the most important thing to me and I don’t really care what the cost is. A couple of years ago a couple of good friends got married at the other end of the country. I spent over $2500 on a 10 day trip (mostly on the credit cards) and I don’t regret it a bit. I had a great time and I got to be part of a very important day. Though I did stinge on the present, let that be a lesson to my other friends who think they want to get married in far flung places at short notice.
And as it’s a short trip I shouldn’t be hitting the credit cards too hard to pay for other expenses.
