Jul
I haven’t done a status report for the credit cards for June, by the time I got around to it, there was several transactions for July and I didn’t have the energy to do the math to work out what my balances were at the end of the June.
What I do know (having just looked at my online statement) is that the balance on Gold Card One has blown out by around $1000 since my last status report at the end of May.
Here’s a list of some things I’ve put on this credit card :-
- Insurance $43 normal monthly charge, I’d save 9% if I paid annually in advance, but in the past I haven’t had the spare cash.
- Electricity $288 had to be paid if I wanted any heating this winter
- Watch $66 needed one for work as mobile phones are banned in my area. I’d seen it in the local shops selling for $199 so ebay gave me a bargain.
- Yacht Club Membership $126 this was way overdue, but not as late as last year.
- Dinner $49 I ran out of cash, avoided excess transaction fee by charging to my credit card.
- Groceries $406 Groceries is actually a delusional white lie. In this catagory I have included not only groceries but alcohol, cigarettes (I want to give up, I really do), and a bit of petrol for the car. Okay to be honest only $130 was for groceries. Leave me with my delusions for now.
As always I have valid reasons for most of this spending, and normally atleast half of this I would have paid cash for.
But as my flatmate moved out, and I started a new job, my cash flow was a little uncertain for a few weeks.
I still owe my flatmate $220 for her bond money, I owe $190 for the heater that is running up my electricity bills, and I have another power bill for $230.
On the bright side, I can share the power bill and part of the phone bill with my former flatmate.
So in hindsite I should have been a bit more conservative with my credit card use. I’ve learnt for the next time.
PS I still haven’t recieved the zero balance transfer paperwork for the GE Money Credit Card that I applied for.
