Rent Cuts Into Credit Card Payments

I’m about to start house hunting for somewhere to live. I’ve spent the last three months in what the real estate agents would call a renovators delight. The best part about it is that’s it’s been rent free so I’ve been able to divert the money I was normally paying in rent towards reducing my credit cards (ie an extra $600 a month)

Well it’s time for the renovators to get started on their delight, so I have to find somewhere else to live.

I considered going into a share arrangement so I could pay extra against my credit cards, but after long consideration, I’ve decided that the best option at this stage is to find another place on my own. I know it’s not the best idea money wise, but I hate moving and I don’t want to get stuck in a place with someone I end up hating.

I’ve discovered in the past that if I share a place with someone I don’t particularly like then I end up spending money just to get away from them, ie weekends away, heading out to the bars.

So I think in the long run it’s best for me and my credit card balances if I find another place on my own. Wish me luck.
